I went to bed at a reasonable time and got up around 8. I woke a bit earlier than that initially because my phone automatically turns the sound on at 6 unless I remember to turn the sound off before 9, but I turned it off and went back to sleep. Today is the day I get to rest and relax and not think about anything. Just feed myself, do exercises, go to family zoom, take a walk, and write.

So that’s what I did with my day. I rustled up some breakfast, and then watched some TV before family zoom. Good talk with family, and then I went to the hot springs. My feet and legs were plenty sore from so much standing yesterday, so I gave them some nice hot soaking. I also tried to focus on my left arm and shoulder and neck, but it’s hard to get the really hot water on my neck for an extended period of time. In the hot tub, I need to surface periodically to let my body temperature come down a bit.

It was overcast and raining for most of the day. The sun tried to peak out a few times, but mostly stayed hidden. After the hot springs, I ate lunch and watched some more TV. I’ve been watching Reacher on Amazon Prime. Ambrose had watched the first two seasons without me; he had more time to watch shows than I did. Watching it now makes me feel close to him in a way. Knowing that he watched it, too.

For my walk, I decided to do a barefoot walk to the mailbox and back. I want to toughen my feet a bit. I think it’s good for me. And the cold exposure is supposed to help my feet be warm. So instead of taking 9 minutes, I took over 18, taking slow, careful steps on the wet dirt and rocks. Acknowledging the sensation of the rocks beneath my feet. Reveling when I got to walk on the softer sections that lacked the itty bitty rocks.

I did some exercises from week 4 of Shoulders & Arms level 1 this afternoon. They got me sweating, and it felt good. Then I did my staff spinning and breathing. Then it was time for dinner. I did the dishes that were in the sink, singing myself a song to help me along. “If you just fuckin’ do it, then it will be done, and you won’t have to do it later.”

Almost time to get ready for bed now. I think I’ll shower before bed since I did work up a sweat with my exercises and spinning. At least a quick rinse off.

There’s a part of me that thinks maybe I do need a dog, but I really don’t know the first thing about having a dog. Or training a dog. Taking care of a puppy seems like a lot of work. Maybe some day. In the meantime, I’ll just enjoy when the neighbor corgi walks with me and sits in my lap and tries to lick my face.
