Getting up at 5:45 wasn’t too bad. I did linger in bed a bit, but not because I was tired, I just wanted to. Then I got up and started getting ready for my hike. I filled my water bladder and made breakfast – which I actually ate at the table for once. I’ve been eating on the couch a lot, but I didn’t even turn the TV on this morning, so why bother sitting on the couch? I left the house around 7, which was decent timing.

I wrote the hike up here. As I hiked, I remembered that first time that Ambrose and I hiked up to Cuddy. He didn’t believe that he would make it. He didn’t realize how close the peak really was. I was the one to push him to keep going and then we were there. Like magic. I’m happy to have brought up him there again with me. I cried a bit on that hike. When I’m hiking, it’s easy to pretend that I’m just hiking ahead of him, like usual, and that when I stop, he’ll catch up. But instead, he’s just here with me. In me. In my heart.

After the hike, I had grand plans to do two mowing sessions. Getting out of the car after I got home made that seem like a silly idea. I had just hiked 7 miles with a gain of over 2600 feet. I was beat. If I were still able to share the mowing load with Ambrose, I wouldn’t have done any mowing at all after a hike like that.

So, I showered, I ate lunch, and I took my trash to the dump. I stopped at the grocery in town because they were having a 10% off anniversary sale, and I figured I could get my breakfast sandwiches there at a good price today. And then I did one session of tough mowing, over some of the roughest terrain my “lawn” has to offer. Tons of flying dirt and plant debris flew in my face. I only had to add strings once, which was nice, but I still think that other trimmer head might be the way to go. I just haven’t pulled the trigger yet.

After mowing, I sat outside on the porch and listened to the birds for a bit. There are so many out there. I can hear them, but it’s harder to see them. Then it was time for another shower, and then dinner. I did some slow, gentle spinal oscillations for my Move U exercises, and then I wrote up my hike. A good, productive day overall. I should sleep like the dead with all the work I’ve done. Hopefully my muscles aren’t so sore that they keep me up. I did rub them a bit after dinner, and rubbed my feet because they deserved it.

More mowing tomorrow. I might do the trimmer in the morning, and try for a mow in the afternoon after I get back from Nampa. I want to get through my whole “lawn” area and see how long it actually takes me working it by myself. I’ll have family zoom, and then drive out to my friend’s house because I accidentally sent my Amazon order to her house. I’ll do grocery shopping there before heading home. I didn’t look up any recipes today, so I’ll have to do that in the morning…
