I was going to run this morning, but it dawned chilly and cloudy, and I chose to stay in bed instead. I spent some time in personal contemplation. A kind of meditation, until nearly 7. It was good to get some extra rest. I didn’t shower before work.

Lots of testing and training during the work day. It went by fairly quickly. Time just keeps slipping on by.

I’ve been tired all day, and I’m not sure why. When I walked at lunch to get the mail, I felt like I was walking through molasses. My muscles are sore and tired. It’s supposed to rain tomorrow, so I’ve decided to go ahead and bump this weekend’s hike to Sunday. I’ll do a mail walk tomorrow, but no running and no hiking.

I did do a mile run after work. I have a goal of doing three runs a week right now, and if tomorrow is going to be a rest day, then I had to run today. Plus, I promised myself that I’d run after work if I didn’t run in the morning. The run was hard. It was my easiest route, the laps up and down my road and my neighbor’s driveway, but my calves were protesting. Not my lungs, which is nice, but the calves hurt.

After the mile, I walked over to my lilac to cool down. It’s growing. It’s much bigger than this time last year, which I know because I had a “on this day” photo of it come up from last year. It was so tiny last year. I hope it blossoms next year. Maybe I should look up some information on how I might encourage it to do so.

Then I continued walking around my yard. I picked up rocks that were in the mowing zone to make mowing easier, along with any trash that I came across. There was some twine, a rusted piece of metal, the remains of a glove worn by weather, and a ball for fetching. I focused on only picking up and throwing or moving the rocks with my left hand. I want to gain energy and strength on that side.

When I got back inside, I showered, and then did my Move U exercises. I did the week 3 moves, plus bicep curls, for 16 minutes. Then I ate dinner and relaxed.

I hope that weather forecast doesn’t change. But no matter what, Saturday is going to be rest day. I’m going to go play cards with my neighbors in the afternoon. In the morning, I think I’ll go to the lumber store and pick up some tools. I want something to help me try and get rid of the divots that make mowing such a pain, and a trowel to help me weed my lilac. If I have to hike in the rain on Sunday, then I’ll be okay. I have rain gear, and it’s good practice, because when you’re backpacking, you don’t get to pick the weather.
