I woke up feeling rather sore, as expected. But I went for my run anyway. I did have to delay starting for a few minutes because I’d forgotten to plug my phone in overnight and it was pretty low on charge. I use it to track my run so I let it get some juice while I warmed up my ankles and got dressed. My running clothes were kind of stinky despite being washed recently. I’m not sure why, but I decided to go ahead and wash them with the sheets since it’s sheet changing day.

The run was good. I did laps, as planned, and managed a faster pace than the last time I did laps. Very close to getting under 13 minutes. I decided it’s getting bright enough that it’s time to shift my wake up time earlier, which also means shifting my go to bed time earlier. I’m going to start with 15 minutes, and I’ll probably add another 15 in a couple of weeks. I’m not sure how earlier I’ll go; I’ll play it by ear.

I got the one work thing that’s been weighing on me all week done, but there’s so much more to be done. I feel like I’m behind. I might do some weekend work to catch myself up. I’ll just have to see how I feel this weekend. It might be relaxing to do some desk work between all the hiking and mowing and driving that I’ve got planned. Maybe while I let my ham bean soup cook – that’s what I’m planning to make. Use the ham hocks that I’ve got to make a soup with beans and probably onions, maybe potato or spinach. Oh, maybe some corn. I’ll have to find a recipe to use as a guideline.

There are some fragrant flowers blooming on the other side of the road. I smelled them during my run and walked back to take a picture during my lunch walk to the mailbox. They’re in the opposite direction, but worth the detour.

After work, I mowed. I’ve just about convinced myself to buy the quick lock trimmer head. I don’t like replacing the lines when they fall out with my face down by the exhaust. The quick lock head should be a lot faster to switch, meaning less time with my face down there. I’ve almost finished the northwest corner. I should wrap that up in my next session and be able to get a start on the final section, the northeast. I think I might finish altogether this weekend with the mowing, which just leaves trimming the rock pile before I’ve completed one round. Then it will be time for round two.

I had a frozen meal heated in the microwave for dinner. I’d planned on a microwave tamale with salsa, but the chicken tikka masala just sounded better.

At 7:45, I turned off the TV and put a red light filter on my phone. I’m trying a challenge to do no screentime an hour before bed. Writing this doesn’t count, as it’s journaling, and I can also read books on my phone and ebook in that hour. I did my Move U exercises while listening to an audiobook, and then did staff spinning. I’m up to 251 days in a row of doing at least 15 minutes of Move U exercises every day.

It’s so quiet here without the TV on. And I turned the audiobook off to write this, because I can’t write and pay attention to the book at the same time. It makes me miss him more. We rarely had silence at home. We got our silence out in the woods, while watching TV or listening to music or books at home. I haven’t listened to his kind of music in a while. He liked putting on DJs on YouTube on the TV. Blasting the beats. I’ve listened to that kind of music only a few times since he died.
