I had a little drama on this morning’s walk. I probably could have walked without the headlamp, but I decided to use it because the moonlight wasn’t that bright. On the way back up the hill, as I was headed to my mailbox to check it, I saw two glowing green eyes and a dog began barking at me. For a moment, I panicked. What could I do if a dog tried to attack me? But then I heard my neighbor’s voice and I knew the dog.

It was Anya, and she just didn’t realize that she knew me. I called out to her and she came over and got some pets and leaned against my legs. It was very nice to see her and my neighbor Rich. He didn’t have a light, so the moonlight must have been enough for him. Certainly enough for Anya.

Work was busy, but a bit calmer today. I’ve figured out a strategy for dealing with the data issues that we found earlier this week. Now I just need to figure out how to document that strategy so I’m not the only one who can do it.

During lunch, I went outside and got more of my temporary shed built out. I didn’t quite finish in the 30 minutes that I allotted myself, but I got close. After dinner, I went out and finished. And then I started moving things from the shed platform that Ambrose and I built last year into this structure. I got almost everything over, leaving room for the trike.

I think I might be able to also fit my mower inside, but I’m going to wait until I’m sure I’m done mowing for the season before I try to jigsaw it in. As I moved my tools, I saw a lot of them had rust from being out in the weather, so I looked up how to get rust off of tools. I’m trying an overnight soak in a salt and vinegar solution on one of them to start. I’m going to need more salt and more vinegar to get them all done so I’ve put those on the shopping list.

I’m glad that I got that structure up before the rain comes on Sunday. And it’s short enough that I should be able to get snow off of it when the snow starts. I could have waited to do it all on Saturday, but then I’d miss out on hiking. And I want to go for a hike tomorrow. Maybe I’ll do a different destination, just to mix things up…

I wonder what Ambrose would have done for the roof of our platform shed to keep snow off of the things we stored there. My idea for last winter of putting tarps on it did not work out. Maybe he would have tried that first, too. Tarps worked fine when we had them on the deck, but they were a lot less exposed to the wind there.
