I slept in pretty hard. I got up just before 8:30, and I think I could have slept even longer than that, but I had things to do today.

The first thing I did was, of course, my eye drop. And then I did Move U exercises. I’m into week 2 of Back & Core level 3. This week introduces planks, which was fun, and hollow holds, which was hard. My form isn’t great on the hollow holds, but it will improve.

After breakfast and a shower, I went to town to get some freshly pressed apple cider. There were two people from choir there. I might buy another jug if there’s any left on Monday. Then it was time to head out to Indian Valley.

Ambrose and I had driven by the road to Indian Valley many times, but never headed out that way, so this was my first visit. I went to the community center where my friends Diane and Kelly were having their annual Halloween shindig. There weren’t very many people there when I arrived. I’m not sure what I expected, but there were less than ten people there.

That did make it easier to remember the names of everyone I was introduced to, even as a few more folk trickled in. I ate food. I listened to people. I talked with people. I admired the adorable baby and watched folks play cornhole.

There was live music in the evening, and I danced. Even though there were not many people dancing, no crowd to lose myself in, I danced. I danced to the music the way that I dance. Finding the rhythms that move my body and letting loose. I ignored the other people in the room and just had fun.

I didn’t dance the slower songs though. They made me think too much of Ambrose. I spoke with one of the women about Ambrose, and I had a little cry. It was okay. One of the people who showed up later was a woman who used to work at the post office in Cambridge, and I’d met her there a few times before she retired.

Overall, it was a good time. The weather was windy and wet, but the sun broke through a bit, especially towards sunset. There was a brief power outage as the music was playing, but it came right back.

I went home a bit after 7:30, which made it too late for me to stop at the grocery store. I don’t know what I’m going to do about shopping this week. I’m feeling off my game when it comes to that right now. I’m all out of instant noodle cups.

There was a beautiful crescent moon in the sky, and, as I drove home I saw this neat curl of cloud on the horizon. I just had to stop and get a picture of it. The drive home was uneventful, in a lull between storm cells. But when I got home I was greeted by the sight of all the things that had been covered by my shed. The shed itself was nowhere to be seen. It’s too dark to look for it, so I don’t know if it’s in my yard still or if it’s been blown to someone else’s property. I don’t even know which way the wind was blowing to look for it. I’ll try to find it in the morning, but I don’t have high hopes. I don’t know what I’m going to do now to keep my stuff safe and dry over the winter.

That really put a damper on an otherwise lovely day. I thought staking it down was enough, but the damp ground probably couldn’t hold onto the stakes. I’m glad I didn’t put the pick adze back out there, but now I’m going to have to figure out something else. If the shelter is somewhere I can retrieve it, I can try to fasten it down better, but I don’t trust it at this point.

Tomorrow I’m headed to Nampa in the early afternoon. It will be good to spend time with my friend and her family. I’ll try to get some writing done in the morning. My next story isn’t due until Friday, but I want to get it started, and maybe even finished, tomorrow. It’s easier for me to write on the weekends when I’m not devoting brain power to work.
