I got up and got moving this morning. It was good. I did a mile walk and then a few pushups. I didn’t do a bar hang, because my left shoulder is still being funky. I want to straighten it out before I get serious about any movements that involve the arm overhead.
Work day was okay. I worked through the week 3 exercises of Back & Core level 3. the arm and leg plank is hard. A bit too hard for now, so I’ll be scaling that. I might end up working on this week extra to build strength. I also walked to check the mail at lunch.
I had a heaping teaspoon of molasses before breakfast this morning. Last time I tried to donate blood and got rejected for having low iron, the Red Cross worker advised that course of action. I don’t know how it works, but it worked. I had sufficiently high iron to donate this afternoon. Oh, and they no longer do the finger prick to test for iron. There’s a machine that does it, and all it does is squeeze the thumb. Very cool.
I’m really glad I was able to donate today. I think about Ambrose and how it took us a while to start, but once we started, he was very into it. We both donated regularly for a while, though I would occasionally get rejected because of the iron. He always had plenty of iron in his blood. The potential danger for him was high blood pressure, but I don’t think he ever got rejected because of that.
I’ve got a bit of a headache. Started this afternoon. I’m not sure if it’s caffeine withdrawal because I had caffeine the past three mornings or a second migraine, as sometimes happens during my period. I always get one, and sometimes I get two. I did deploy my anti-light solutions during lunch, closing all curtains and blocking the front door’s window with a blanket using a chair and crutches.
Had a nice family zoom this evening. It’s good to feel connected to my family and what’s going on in their lives. I’m going to be in town over Christmas, and we’re going to go to a Blackhawks game for Ambrose’s birthday. Nosebleed seats, but we’ll be there. I’ll have to remember to pack his jersey. Or maybe I’ll wear a Buffalo Beauts jersey, just to be special. I still need to get a Victoire jersey, as that’s my chosen team on the women’s league.
I’m putting one foot in front of the other. I’m moving forward. But I don’t have a sense of what I’m moving towards. I need to start planning next summer’s trips. I want to backpack the Queens River Loop, bring my nieces out for a week, and do another section of the Idaho Centennial Trail. Not the Selway; I’m giving that a few more years for maintenance to catch up. But I could do another 50 miles north of where I ended last year or link up Wilderness Gateway to where I started last year.
