I think I’m on the mend. I could have slept more today, but I had things to get done.

The first thing was family zoom. I didn’t have much to share since I’ve just spent the last few days being sick. I’m jealous of all the snow they got in Chicago, though I’m not quite ready for snow here. I wouldn’t mind if snow waited until, say, December 8th, and then took a break on the 19th and 20th for my travel days. And another break when I’m traveling back after New Years. Then, let it snow!

After family zoom, I settled into writing my November story for Pulphouse. I wasn’t sure that I would be able to write a story feeling all sick, but I think it might have helped. I wasn’t thinking about it too much. Just making descriptions from the point of view of my character and seeing where things were going. I’m not entirely sure that the ending works, but I think it’s at least not completely predictable.

I still don’t know how to make these little black marks create in the mind of the reader what I have in my head. That’s something I need to work on, and it’s a work in progress.

I got about halfway through by 1 pm, and took a break to eat lunch. About an hour later, I got back into it and finished before 4. Again, I stuck to my rule of no TV until the story was finished. That rule works well for me.

I’ll see how I’m feeling in the morning. If I’m not feeling well, I may just call out sick. Better to continue to rest up than to push myself and have the illness linger. But if I do call out, I’ll nap during the day and skip the practice concert. No way do I want to expose the senior folks home to an illness, not to mention my fellow choir members.

It’s annoying that I’ve spent basically the whole long weekend sick. I’ve barely gotten anything done other than the story, which was last minute. i wanted to hike and I wanted to get other writing done. At least I’ve been keeping up with my Move U exercises and flute practice.
