It’s going to take me a bit to get used to this increased activity level. I slept until quarter to 6 and I think I could have slept another two or three hours. Instead, I got up and walked and then did my exercises for the day so that I’d have time in the evening for yard work.
I’ve been tired all day. Work was draining. I did have a haircut during my lunch hour, and that was nice. It got me out of the house and I had a nice chat with my stylist. I keep going shorter and shorter. It won’t be long before I’m shaving my head at this rate.
After work, I was heading out the door to feed my friend’s dog, but there was a wasp crawling on the inside of my back door. I took a moment to grab a leather work glove and smash it, but the thing wouldn’t smash. And then I saw another one, and another. There were five wasps inside my house and I am not down with that. But I couldn’t seem to kill them, so I grabbed a glass jar and trapped all five of them inside.
I fed my friend’s dog and stopped at the lumber store in town on the way home. They were close to closing so the door was locked, but the owner came over to let me in. I recently found a dead wasp in my clean clothes from the dryer, and I had examined the outside dryer vent. It has a flap that’s supposed to stay shut when the dryer is off, but it won’t shut anymore even after I cleaned out the lint residue. I figure that’s one way the wasps are getting inside, though the other way may be the dog door that Ambrose and I tried to seal up. I bought a new vent cover, but when I got home it looked like it might not be the right size. I’ll have to try putting it on in the morning when the wasps are sleeping, just in case.
I was so tired when I got home. I didn’t want to cook dinner. But I did want to eat dinner, so that got me moving. I had thawed my cinnamon roasted pumpkin earlier, so I just needed to chop the fresh veggies up. I mixed a can of canned chicken and shells in white cheddar with the cooked veggies and it turned out very nice. As I suspected, the cinnamon flavor goes really well with the cheese flavor and the jalapenos. I’m going to be happy to be eating that for the next three days.
Family zoom started while I was cooking. I’m glad I can do other things while on the zoom with my family. Sometimes it’s easier to do things when I have people to talk to. We decided on dates for the road trip. I’m going to need to reschedule some appointments, but I don’t mind. I’ve got my plane ticket to fly out to Chicago, and I need to start bugging my dad about making hotel reservations before they get booked.
I had planned to do some dirt relocation aka hole filling aka hard labor after the zoom and before bed. I really didn’t want to do it when it was time, but I promised myself that if I just did one wheelbarrow that would be okay. So I went outside and did one wheelbarrow and I am ready to go to bed. After a quick shower to rinse the hairs and sweat off. If Ambrose were here, he probably wouldn’t be helping with the dirt relocation project, but he’d be putting time into mowing at least. That’s not all I miss him for, but I do miss his contributions to household labor.
