It’s been a long day. I got a decent night’s sleep last night, but had to get up earlier than I’d prefer to get to the airport on time.

At the airport, I tried to do a mile walk, but ended up doing a bit more. How much more, I’m not sure, because my app wasn’t being very reliable. But I was walking at a decent pace, so I know I was going faster than a 30 minute mile. I think it lost track of my completely when I went down to C concourse. And I walked fast enough that I started to sweat, so I ended up buying some deodorant so I wouldn’t torture the folks I would be sitting next to on my flights.

I had a Smashburger breakfast burger for breakfast. It was a grease bomb, but kind of hit the spot for me. Lots of protein, that’s for sure, between the burger, the egg, and the bacon. And the cheese 🙂

The flight to Denver was uneventful and short. The only issue I had was that I got very cold, and they wouldn’t let me hold onto the hot tea once we started descending. I should have gotten an extra layer out of my carryon, but I don’t like getting things down from the overhead bin while in flight, so I just flexed my glutes and tried to use the hot tea to get warm.

At Denver, I did another “mile” that was way more than a mile, even though I avoided going to any downstairs areas this time. That app tried to tell me that I’d only gone 0.14 miles in 9 minutes, which is laughable. One full lap of the C concourse got me to 0.67, and then, not too much longer after that, it jumped to 1.05. After that, I found a place to sit, got my phone charging, and then did my Move U exercises with the phone still plugged in. I did slow spinal oscillations, with a focus on full exhales and not letting my left shoulder blade hyperextend.

I had a protein bar for lunch because I figured I’d eat a big meal once I got to my destination. And it was a solid 400 calorie bar, not some flimsy 220. SANS brand. I don’t know if they’re available anymore, but I had some from last year’s backpacking purchases.

The flight to Charleston was not full, which was nice. I sat on an aisle with an empty middle seat between me and the occupant of the window seat. The row behind me had two small dogs which I didn’t really get to see, but I could hear people gushing about how cute they were. I finished my audiobook, and then watched a movie. Had to use the bathroom once. Everything went smooth after landing. My luggage popped up and I headed outside to wait for pick up.

Unfortunately, my father-in-law got caught in traffic and I ended up waiting nearly an hour for him and his wife to arrive. It was nice to be outside though, and the weather was pleasant. I relished standing after sitting most of the day.

We met my sister-in-law at a restaurant for dinner. I ordered a chicken sandwich in mango habanero sauce and was shocked to find that they’d piled three large pieces of chicken on the po’boy style bread. That sandwich wouldn’t even shut. I ended up eating most of the chicken by itself and ignored the bread. The fries it came with were good, and the sauce was nice and spicy.

Then back to the house I’ll be staying at with my in-laws. I got a shower and we watched some TV and now it’s time for bed. I’m going to sleep myself out I think. I do have an alarm set since I will be teaching a class tomorrow, but that won’t be until 11 Eastern time, so I should wake up well before then.

I had a few tough times while traveling, when I had the emotions rise and I let the tears come out. I’ve found that no one really notices if I cry in an airport. So I just let it happen and then it passes. Much easier than trying to hold it all inside.
