This morning I woke up at 4:30 and decided that was far too early to get up and out of bed. I think I managed to fall back asleep a bit before the 5:30 alarm. Then I slowly got up and got dressed for another two mile run. Overall, faster than yesterday’s two miles, but not as fast as the last time I ran the route. It was the route with the big hill. This is the first time I’ve done that one fasted, and I felt pretty good about the pace.
I’d had a dream last night about today’s big event that I was hosting at work. This is the third year that I have hosted this event, meant to showcase things that the various areas that use our CRM are doing. In the dream, a twelve year old boy took over the event somehow and it was a hybrid in person and zoom. In reality, it was all over zoom and went very well. The timing was almost perfect. I was ready to end on time, but we ended up having just a bit more discussion at the end. Still, it was good.
I wasn’t freaking out about it, but I was low level dreading it. In years past, I’d held it in March, and this year I postponed it because I wasn’t ready to hold it in March. I’m glad that I put it off, because I feel like I was able to give it the energy it deserved today. It did take a lot out of me to get it done, but I was able to spare that energy. Even with my period about to appear!
The event ended at noon. I walked out of my office and told Ambrose that I’d gotten it done and done well, as if he were in his familiar place on the couch. He would have hugged me and told me he knew I would. Then I headed outside for my walk to the mailbox. No mail today, but it was good to be outside and moving. It’s getting warmer. There’s a heat advisory on for tomorrow, in fact. But after that temps are supposed to drop down to the 70s for a while. I do like the heat, but I don’t mind it being postponed until later in the summer.
I had plenty to do in the afternoon at work and it passed pretty quickly. By quitting time, I was tired. I wanted to just go right to sleep, but I had a family zoom at 6. Probably a good thing, because if it wasn’t for the family zoom, I would probably have dragged myself outside to mow the lawn. I plan on doing some of that tomorrow, even though it will be hot. I’ll be sure to hydrate and not stay outside too long at a stretch. Try to do it right when I get back from shopping.
I didn’t do my Move U exercises until after 8, but I got them done. I worked through the week 3 and week 4 exercises for about 17 minutes. They feel like they are really targeting the sore spot on my left shoulder that has been making me feel out of whack for a while now. I hope I can get that worked out and really start focusing on building strength again, both bodyweight and with weights.
