I slept in a bit more this morning. I mean, I could have gotten up earlier than I did, but I decided to put my ear plugs in once the bird that sounded like an alarm clock chirping started up. I wanted to be well rested for the drive home.

My friend Bill made me breakfast. Eggs, bacon, and hash browns. We chatted and birdwatched out the kitchen window for a while. Some more chatting after his wife joined us. And then it was time for me to go. They let me take a towel to use to cover the urn while I drove. And I buckled it into the front seat, wrapped up with care.

There was some stop and go traffic just above Lewiston where there was construction, but it didn’t take me too long to get through it. Otherwise, the drive was pretty uneventful. I stopped to get gas at the casino on Nez Perce Road, at the rest stop south of Riggins, and at the A & W in New Meadows, which was open this time. I got my much anticipated root beer float and some chicken strips. The root beer float was exactly what I wanted it to be.

I got home safe and sound in time for zoom with my family. I decided to freeze some of the apricots and cherries that I bought in Moscow so I wouldn’t have to eat them all at once. I left some out to eat this week, and I’ll work on the frozen once that’s gone. Rather than freeze cherries with pits in them, I cut them in half and pulled the pits out – same with the apricot pits, though those are easier to remove.

After zoom, I did my exercises, working through the week 5 movements of Shoulders & Arms level 2 again. The upright row is not feeling quite right on my left side. There’s some pokey feelings going on, sharp and unpleasant, so I’ve been using a heating pad on that shoulder this evening.

I haven’t yet put Ambrose’s remains in the urn. I talked to him at the rest stop, going down by the river and listening to the water and crying a bit. That’s my next step, now that I have this beautiful urn that was made with love by someone who knew and loved him. I think I’ll take a shower before bed. Tomorrow is another work day, and a busy one with my regular Monday meetings.
