I slept in today. I had plans to get a lot done today. And I did get some things done. But mostly, I didn’t get anything done.

I’ve been meaning to trim some dead branches off my trees for a while now. For some reason, I went and did it today, after watching a quick video on technique. I’ve got a small chainsaw, but I preferred to get sweaty and use a hand saw for this one. I have no idea if I used the right saw, but it worked well enough. Just took some sweating. I got all the branches I could reach without a ladder.

Another thing that I got done today was putting air in the front tire of my trike, which had deflated while I was on one of my trips. I don’t know if there’s a leak I need to address or not. It seems to be holding air well enough. I rode it around the yard successfully. But I’ll let it sit overnight and see if it holds. I think I’ll ride it down to the library tomorrow after work. I’m hoping to go there and print out the mail-in passport renewal forms, which I’ll need to use to get a passport book.

I put away some things that I had left out for a while. They were in front of a door and I had to walk around them constantly. It was the gear I was using to sleep outside, but I’m not going to be sleeping outside while it’s this smoky. There’s the nearby fire in the West Mountains and wind is bringing in smoke from fires farther afield. Today was very hazy.

After several days of intending to do some exercises from week 4 of Back & Core level 2, I finally did them. For some reason, my hips are sore, which I really felt on the assisted side planks. Those were pretty hard in general, so I’m going to continue on week 4 for another day or two before continuing on to week 5. The goal is to feel comfortable with the level 2 exercises before moving to level 3. Level 3 will include exercises from level 2, especially in the early weeks, so it makes sense to reacquaint myself.

I did some tidying in the kitchen. And I made a salad for dinner. I opened and sliced up a Spam can yesterday, so I knew I wanted to have Spam as part of tonight’s dinner, and I bought a head of lettuce last week so I want to eat as much of that as possible so as not to waste it. As I was putting together the lettuce, tomatoes, and salad dressing, I thought, why not Spam salad? So, I tossed the heated and sliced chunks of Spam in, along with a bit of lime powder for zing. It was pretty good.

I’ve had a few crying jags. Missing Ambrose and wishing that he was here so I would have more direction in my life. With him, I felt like there was a purpose and a goal, and without him I have no compass. No anchor. I know what I need to do, but I have such a hard time doing it. Our cactuses are turning yellow. I watered them, but I don’t know if that’s what they need.
