I’m settling into my fall routine. I’m not feeling like I have to drag myself out of bed. I do want to stay in bed most mornings, but I am able to get moving and use the momentum to get myself outside for the walk. It’s cold enough outside that I no longer want to get back in bed after being out for 20 or so minutes.
There were some more gifts from my sister-in-law in the mail. She sent me a pair of very cute hats. I really appreciate that she’s sending me things. I changed the water in the bouquet of flowers that one of my choir friends gave me. The snapdragons are still in the process of blooming.
Since the mini garage arrived yesterday, I’ve been thinking about when I might put it up. I had planned on running during lunch today, but then I’d have to try and do it in the evenings or on Saturday. And I didn’t want to miss out on hiking on Saturday, so I decided to skip the run and start putting it up during lunch.
It was pretty easy to put together. Well, I haven’t quite finished it, but it’s well on its way. I didn’t put it as close to the house as I’d originally planned, because if I’m going to have the deck redone, I don’t want to have it right up against the deck. Its position will give it some protection from the north wind. I just hope it’s enough.
I’ll finish the construction tomorrow and move most of the things from the shed Ambrose and I built to inside it. Maybe everything. I want to still have room for the trike, so I’ll just have to see how things fit once I’ve finished with the interior pieces.
I got one quote today for the deck, and I have two people stopping by tomorrow to take a look and put in quotes. I don’t think I’ll be wanting to start for a couple months at least, but it will be good to get an idea of how much I need to save or plan to take out as a loan.
I went over to a neighbor’s to pick up some excess pears. I’ll eat some fresh and dehydrate some. They also gave me some pear butter to try out. I had a bit this evening and found it delightful. I think it will go great in oatmeal or yogurt, too.
During family zoom, my choir director stopped by to give me the flute music for the piece that I’ll be playing the flute for this year. The zoom was good, even though my brother wasn’t there this time. He can’t always make it with his work schedule. Afterwards, I went to give the dryer an extra 15 minutes so it would be warm and fresh when I took everything out to put it away, but unfortunately I forgot to run it after taking the clothes from the washer and putting them in the dryer, so they’d gotten all nasty smelling and I had to put them back in the washer for a second run. I’m staying up to move them back to the dryer – and running it.
On my walk this morning, I didn’t use my headlamp. The moonlight was just barely adequate to allow me to walk without the extra light. And I’m glad that I did it, because as I was walking down my driveway, looking at Cuddy Mountain, I saw a shooting star. I might have missed it with the headlamp on.
The shooting star makes me feel like Ambrose is watching over me. A sign from the heavens that he’s there. Something secret that I only I get to see.
