I walked the full mile this morning. The neighborhood roosters cock-a-doodle-dooed at me even though it was well before dawn. I like to think of them as alarm cocks.
I think it might be time for me to take a break from the new again. There’s just so much crazy stuff going on. I feel like I need to focus on work and writing and my own mental health. There’s nothing that I can really do about anything that I read about.
I lowered the temperature in my house. I’m keeping it cooler and dressing warmer. I don’t know if that will last, but I kind of like it for now. I just got a call today to make an appointment for my winter maintenance on my furnace. I think they might have been trying to call Ambrose instead. They sent him mail this year. The woman on the phone asked about why they had his name for my address as well and I had to tell her that he’s dead and please stop sending him things or trying to call him.
I’ve been doing some extra work because of a data issue. The last two days, there were no issues at all, but I wanted three clean days in a row. And today, there were issues, breaking the streak. I’ll have to continue monitoring this closely. I got some good work done on a report that I’ve been working on. Not too many meetings today, so that was nice.
I spent some time on the porch after work. I was on my phone, but at least I was sitting outside in the late afternoon sunshine. All bundled up in Ambrose’s old green down jacket. That jacket is way too heavy for backpacking, but it’s great for camping. I wish I could go camping one more night this year, but I don’t see it happening. It’s getting too cold out for my three season tent, even in the yard.
I finally beat the videogame boss I’ve been trying to beat for a while now, but I didn’t spend too much time playing because I had family zoom. Got to see my brother for the first time in a couple weeks, so that was nice. Everyone was tired. My parents have both been working hard on documents for their cases.
I’m glad tomorrow is Friday. I just wish the weekend was longer. I have a lot I want to get done this weekend, and I haven’t even budgeted in time for grocery shopping, which I also skipped last week. I might do some shopping in Nampa on Sunday, but that will have to be non-perishables only since I’ll be spending the night there to make it easier to get to my appointment on Monday morning.
