I woke up at what the clock told me was 6 am, but my body was pretty sure it was still 3 am or so. It was not ready for me to eat breakfast, but I did that anyway. I feel like I’m adjusting to the time changes (daylight and zones) better than the last time I attended a conference in Eastern time, even though I’m older now. Maybe I’ve gained a bit of wisdom.

The hotel breakfast was fine. They had some fine juicy oranges to eat, acceptable oatmeal, and a lot of carbs that I skipped (except for one mini blueberry muffin). I had eggs and a sausage patty with veggie medley, plus oatmeal with almonds and raisins and cinnamon. I might add a bit of sugar to it tomorrow because it’s not very flavorsome. But it was a decent breakfast. The main hotel doesn’t provide a breakfast, so that’s one advantage to being at the satellite location.

The shuttle to the conference wasn’t as full as I thought it would be when I got on around 7. It was still dark outside, with a bit of mysterious fog.

I found a few of my colleagues at the morning coffee, and then a few more at the morning keynote. I gathered up phone numbers and started a group chat, but I did leave one person out by accident; luckily someone noticed and got them added in before we went too far.

The sessions I attended today were mostly informative and good. I asked questions in some of them, and I felt more connected and motivated to my job. I did some vendor visiting in the afternoon, and that was less intimidating that it had been in the past. I got some swag; I’ll get a little more of it tomorrow. There were puppies to pet, but I didn’t want to risk my allergies acting up.

In the evening, I met up with some colleagues for some vendor events and got sufficient food in me to serve for dinner. I still have some chips and a cookie from lunch if I get peckish before bed. I had to leave a bit early to make the last shuttle back to my hotel, but I’m glad I did because it gave me a chance to get a little work done.

Now I’m going to get my exercises done, shower, and then relax until bedtime. It’s probably a good thing that my typical bedtime is around 9 pm. Going to bed at 10 pm eastern isn’t as much of a stretch as if I were used to going to bed at 11 pm or midnight mountain. Tomorrow is the big evening event, so I probably won’t take the time to journal. I’ll be too tired from dancing.
