I took a sleep aid last night. I’m glad I did, because I got to sleep with ease. But I did wake up with somewhat of a ‘hangover’ from it. The alarm was set for 6 instead of 6:30 to give me more time to get ready to go. I wanted to be out of the house by 7:30 to account for traffic.
I had the pecan peach granola that I bought from the farmers market for breakfast with milk and yogurt. It was yummy. That granola is nice and rich and I love the crunch of the pecans. Then I showered, got dressed, and packed the car. I put down a blanket to cushion the two monitors and the PC tower. I had a lunch packed and ready to go, plus two teas, one caffeinated and one not, to drink on the drive in.
I had to stop for the bathroom as I was approaching Meridian. Bad idea. The gas station was on my right, which meant I had to turn left without a signal to get out. The road was way too busy for that, even after 9:30 in the morning, so I ended up taking a right and then a left and another left and a uturn and a right before I was headed back in the right direction to get back on 84. That was a pain. There is so much more traffic in the Treasure Valley than there used to be.
I made sure to park close to the elevator in the parking garage on campus, because I’d be getting the cart from Admissions to fetch my old computer and pack out my new computer. It was nice to see the office. It had been refurbished a bit since my last time on campus. I got settled into a cubicle to log onto my new computer – I have to log in while on campus for the initial log in, otherwise it won’t work.
I got to chat with several folks in the office while I was there. It was a good little visit. It made me feel like I could handle being on campus, if I had to be. Though, there’s on way I’d want to do a 4 hour commute five days a week. There’s rumors that the state is looking at curbing remote work again legislatively. I have to hope that it doesn’t happen or that I can get an exception.
I made a house call for my last meeting of the day to my friend Susan’s place. We walked through an update for the document imaging system, and I got to meet her very lovey dog.
I thought about stopping at the apple orchard on the way home, but decided I wanted to just get home and eat dinner. It had been a long day, and the driving wouldn’t get easier if I stopped. Besides, I’m thinking about going to Weiser on Saturday to grocery shop a bit. I want to see if they have my preferred brand of raisin bread. So, I can go to the apple orchard then.
After dinner, I just zonked out on the couch. It was a long day of driving, and more social interaction than I typically get in a month. It’s good to have some quiet time in my home. I just wish Ambrose were here. I liked having quiet time alone with him very much.
