I got out of bed at the alarm even though I didn’t get to bed until after 10. I was tired, but I was determined to get a story ready enough to submit to meet the deadline. And I did. It’s not a perfect story, and probably doesn’t fit the theme well enough even if the story is okay. But I took my shot.

I was a little late to eat breakfast, but I got to work on time. I do so love my commute. And wearing sweatpants to work. Working from home is awesome.

The sky was putting on a show today. The clouds in the morning were low in the valley, and spectacular in the last afternoon light.

I wrapped up the issue at work that had taken all the air out of my day on Monday, so that was a relief. I’m going to be keeping a close eye on the process for another week or so to make sure that it’s working as it should. There are some other modifications that need to be made on that as well to prevent duplicates coming through.

I purchased two three week workshops through the Pulphouse Kickstarter, and the second one starts this week. It looks like the assignment will be another story, so I’ll be writing again this weekend. I’m glad to have the external motivation of the classes to force me to write. I decided to buy another keyboard. The one I bought after Ambrose died isn’t pleasing me as a work keyboard. I don’t like that the arrow keys are squished under the main section. I’ll use that one with my laptop for writing and the new one for work when it gets here on Thursday. The laptop keyboard is fine, but I do type faster on the ergonomic style.

I was in a work meeting today and got complimented on my typing-while-screen-sharing skills. Many people freeze up and have a lot of trouble typing when others are watching. One of my many skills is that I can type well even while my boss and my boss’s boss are watching.

My friend who gave me the tomatoes had more for me today at our sectional rehearsal for choir. The sectional rehearsals are for going through parts, so the sopranos and the altos meet together and the tenors and basses meet on another day. I now have a big bucket of tomatoes. I’m goin to freeze some so they don’t go to waste. They are so delicious. I also told her about making the quick pickles with those cucumbers and texted her the recipe. I transferred mine from the rectangular glass container into the jars from the pasta sauce I made after I ran them through the dishwasher.

Ambrose used to make those pickles for us. And they were served at the celebration of his life back in March, as part of my requested Southern Comfort Food menu. When I ate a few yesterday while I was transferring them to the jars, they didn’t quite taste right. But today the full flavor had come on. I think it will be worth it to get out the mandolin next time I get some cucumbers to make the slices fine and even. Or I might shred them, as Ambrose would sometimes do, making a delicious relish.

I think I’ll set my alarm a little later for tomorrow morning so I can get closer to eight hours of sleep. I’m glad next week’s sectional is on Thursday so I won’t have two days in a row staying up late.
