I slept in until my body demanded water more loudly than sleep. Only about 8 am. I had some interesting dreams, including one where I was wearing an absurdly huge and sparkly ball gown. That was fun.

Then I spent most of the day being quiet and doing as little reading as possible. I watched movies with the volume low and no subtitles. I drank a coconut water to start my day, and then had a smoothie for breakfast, which turned out to be my only meal of the day. My tummy is still not really into food quite yet.

I continued to have gas overnight and through the day. My dad said the food poisoning could linger a bit. I hope it doesn’t linger too much longer, because I do NOT want to cancel that backpacking trip.

I took a bath with Epsom salt infused bubble bath. I poured a bit too much in, which was kind of fun. Very bubbly. And I listened to an audiobook instead of reading in the tub as I usually do. The only downside was that my hot water ran out too soon. Very rude of it. I did breathing for my exercises after that.

Family zoom this afternoon was mostly me talking about the conference, both the good and the rather terrible ending. My brother hadn’t heard yet about the food poisoning or the concussion. The next one won’t be for a while because of my trip.

I’ve been thinking about my June story submission for a while now, with the opening scene plotted out in my head. With it being due tomorrow, I decided to just start writing it after the zoom. Before I knew it, I’d written over 3700 words and finished the story (I think it took about two hours). It didn’t end up going in the direction that I thought it would, but I like it. I got it submitted this evening, one whole day early.

I didn’t finish packing for my trip, but I made some headway. I’ll make more tomorrow, and I’ll be ready to leave by Thursday morning if not Wednesday night. I’m leaving my sleeping pad inflated and standing up overnight to test it for slow leaks. If it fails, I’ll try Ambrose’s, and if that one fails, then I’ve got the backup. Worst case scenario, I’ve got the closed cell foam pads, but those will be a bit cold at this time of year where I’m headed.

My head hasn’t been throbby today, so that’s good. And the reading that I’ve done hasn’t impacted my head either. Here’s hoping I can work safely and successfully tomorrow and get cleared by my primary care physician this week. And that my digestive system calms down and lets me eat so I can backpack.
