I decided to sleep in this morning. To get some rest and feel better rested on this day when I don’t have to get up for work. I figured I could run later in the morning and it would be hot but doable.

That was not the case. The run started off okay. It was hot, but doable. Soon after I left the house, I felt like I needed to pee. I figured I could run to the bathroom in Cambridge on the Weiser River Trail. I saw a bunny near the cemetery, and a deer when I got onto the Weiser River Trail.

I was doing just fine until I got there and slowed down. When I sat on the toilet, I felt like I was going to pass out. I adjusted myself and spent some time lying on the floor to cool off. Then I used the sink to completely wet my shirt for the walk home. It was still just as hot outside, and I knew better than to try and push myself to run again at this point.

The walk home was hot, but perfectly doable. The wet shirt helped, as did the breezes that occasionally came up. When I got home, I drank a coconut water to help me rehydrate and recover. I also watered my potatoes, which are continuing to look unwell. I’m trying a new tactic of watering twice a day. I’ll see if that helps. I kind of think they are going to die before I leave for my backpacking trip next weekend. If they don’t, then they’ll probably die while I’m out of town. It’s probably too hot as well as too dry.

I don’t feel like I got much else done today. I did finish my trip write up for Our Lakes, but I still need to add photos before I post it. I’ll try to get that done tomorrow. I still need to do my Move U exercises for today. I did some incline pushups, but I didn’t do the full time. I think I’m going to do some breathing for tonight. Just got to get it done and get to bed.

I did get a few more things together for my trip next week. I’m going to have to focus on that. I’m not just going to be packing for backpacking, but also for car camping. I’ll need more clothes and more food and more gear. Though I could leave the car camping tent and just use the backpacking tent at Big Creek if I wanted to bring less stuff. But I think I’ll bring the big tent. I need to make dinner reservations. I want to do at least one dinner at the lodge.

I think if Ambrose had been at home, I would have called him and had him pick me up from the bathroom rather than walk home. But it was good to self-rescue. I recognized that I had an issue, I took steps to fix it, and I got home safely. I did what he taught me to do.
