I woke up around 5:30 and got my walk done. Then exercises, shower, and breakfast. I’m glad that I was able to get up and walk today because the last few Mondays have been a struggle as far as getting out of bed goes.
The morning dragged a bit at work. I was eager to try my soup, so I could hardly wait for lunch. I do think, now that I’ve eaten a portion, that I’ll make some tweaks to the process. I’ll add hot sauce to some of the jars for variety. I’ll use a bit less broth overall, maybe 12oz instead of 16. But overall, the soup was very good. And I liked knowing that I was getting a lot more fiber and protein for about the same amount of calories as the ramen lunch. Probably less calories, but I didn’t strictly count them this time.
It was a lot of effort to make the soup jars, but I can see myself doing it again. Maybe not every week. Or maybe I will get into doing it every week. The flavors will shift every week as I use different beans or veggies or ingredients in the broth. I like having a set lunch. One of my co-workers wanted to know if I got tired of eating the same thing almost every day, and I really don’t.
There was mail in the box today, as expected. I received my order of trail cookies from Garage Grown Gear, and one other piece of mail. I’m excited about the trail cookies. It’s going to be backpacking time before I know it.
The afternoon at work went a lot faster because I had five meetings, filling almost my entire afternoon. Good meetings, but it was still a lot. I’ve moved one of my one-on-ones to Tuesday because a different meeting is now regularly on Mondays and having four meetings squished together every Monday was too much.
After work, I went into town to feed my friend’s dog. He was excited to see me. My friend said I could make him dinner every other day, but I have no problem feeding him every day. Don’t get me wrong, he’s not going to starve if I don’t show up a day because he’s got a bowl of dry food out all the time. But I have the time to show up every day, and I think he deserves the meal and the company.
I had the last of my super veggie, fresh frozen tomato pasta sauce for dinner. I’ll have to cook something new tomorrow. I’m not sure what for the protein, but I like the idea of putting my cinnamon pumpkin chunks with shells in white cheddar. I’ve still got some beef I could do for the protein. I still have some fish in the freezer I need to eat. I’ve got shrimp. Almost too many options.
After I ate, I went outside to do some more rut and hole filling in my mowing zone. This consists of me digging up some soft areas where the cows the prior owned had pooped, and moving that dirt via wheelbarrow to the areas that are rutted. I’m going to get strong doing this. I only stayed out for about 50 minutes, and then I went inside and did my shoulder workout.
The original plan was to do two workouts tomorrow since I get a long lunch on Tuesdays, but I have a hair cut (hairs cut, as Ambrose would say) tomorrow that I’ll need to use that lunch for. Plus I have to cook, there’s a family zoom in the evening, and I want to move more dirt around if I have time. So, I did two workouts today, and I hope to get one done tomorrow in the morning.
I haven’t felt as emotional today as I was feeling last week. I feel like I’m waiting for something. Something other than the refund from the DMV that should be on its way. I didn’t get anything done on taxes today. I’ll need to finish those up soon.
