I forgot to turn off the alarm last night, so it woke me up at 6:05 this morning. I silenced it and went back to sleep for a bit. When I did finally get up, I found that my period had started all at once. This was a bit of a relief because I’d been waiting for it to show up, but also meant a day of pain.

The rain came in the night, as forecast. I went outside to make a measurement while the markers from the dig line were still visible. I confirmed that the spot where I want to plant is well over 5 feet away from buried lines.

There was a family zoom that included two of my aunts and one uncle along with my brother and parents. I really liked seeing everyone. I hope I get a chance to visit with them in person soon.

I did not end up taking the time to prep soups today. I have a half burrito for tomorrow’s lunch, and I might prep soups for the rest of the week tomorrow night. I did do my breakfast prep, and I did dinner prep. I decided I needed to cook the frozen salmon that’s been in my freezer for probably too long. So that was the big project. I cut up some lemons and put them all around the defrosted filet, on a sheet of parchment paper over foil. That baked up very nicely. I used my rice cooker for the first time since before Ambrose died. I should have made a bit more rice than I did for the number of meals that I wanted. I ended up cooking some minute rice for tonight and tomorrow night’s. The rest of the dishes have the good rice.

I fried up my standard vegetable mix of onion, red bell pepper, jalapeno pepper, and water chestnuts in a bit of olive oil. Oh, and garlic. Then I mixed in the juice of one lemon, about 2 tablespoons of seasoned rice wine vinegar and 2 tablespoons of soy sauce. This was my experiment with flavoring the veggies since neither the rice nor the salmon had much seasoning going on. The first serving was pretty good.

It’s getting easier to get my weekly cleaning chores done. They aren’t a lot, and it helps me to know that I can get them done pretty quickly. They are feeling like a smaller task than they used to.

I did the best that I could today. I think I’m ready to start the work week tomorrow. I’ll get to bed. That will help.
