The plan was to get some good mowing done today. I got a little bit of mowing done today, and then the mower died. I’m not sure what’s wrong with it. I’ve got a few more things to try before I give up and try to find a mechanic to fix it.

I got shopping done in town. Even though I plan on continuing my overnight oats for most breakfasts, I bought some more Jimmy Deans frozen breakfast sandwiches to have around in case I didn’t get my oats prepped in time or just wanted a change of pace. It’s part of being gentle with myself.

I found and sprayed four wasp nests in three locations today. They were setting up shop in my package box at the foot of my driveway, against the wall near the front door, and inside my driver’s side front car door. That was a shock to find, though at least I didn’t see any actual insects in those.

I watered my tree. It is still looking pretty damaged from that freak heat wave when I was out of town. I think there’s some new growth starting, but it’s hard to tell. Maybe some kind of loose mesh could provide some shade while leaving the wind little to grip on. I could try crocheting something.

Tomorrow I’m going to see how high I can get on the mountain. I might even make the old lookout site, if there’s not too much snow still up there. I want to hike alone, because hiking alone I can pretend that Ambrose is just ahead of me out of sight or behind me. I talk to him a lot on the trail because I can feel him there. But not when I’m with other people.

Perhaps I’ll get some cleaning done tomorrow. I hope to get my oats and boiled eggs prepped. I hope to repair the mower. Maybe I should just buy a scythe. At least for this really tall overgrown stuff that the mower keeps getting wrapped up in. That’d be even better exercise than the mower.
