Oh, I was not inclined to get out of bed this morning at the alarm. But I didn’t linger too long before I got up and went for my run. Lots of interesting dreams again. Something weird happened in the night. At some point, it felt like my pinkie finger on my left hand was somehow out of joint. When I tried to bend it, it would pop, and it didn’t feel quite right. I ignored it and went back to sleep, and by the time I woke up the odd sensation was gone. Maybe it was all part of a dream?

Today’s run was the two mile zig-zag route. I tried to get myself moving on the first mile and get under 13 minutes, but I didn’t get there, clocking in at just over 13 and a half minutes for that first mile. I tend to need a little time running before I can start to push that pace. Back in Boise, when I ran mostly flat routes, my second mile would always be faster than my first. Out here, I start on top of a hill, so my second mile is almost never faster than my first – except when I do the laps. But I was very pleased with my second mile today. Not faster than the first, but I squeaked under 14 minutes with a time of 13:59. Any sub-14 time on the uphill is good.

I also got to see the full moon hanging out before I started my run. My cellphone pictures didn’t do it justice, but I tried.

At work, I had trouble focusing, but still got a good amount of stuff done. Lots of meetings. I’ll have a lot of meetings tomorrow as well. I need to brief my team members on priorities and tasks for next week while I’m out on vacation.

I did my next set of exercises for week 5 of Shoulders & Arms level 2. I can feel how I’m working my back. I just hope I can work out whatever I’ve got going on with the left shoulder blade. It’s been painful and tingly at times in the last couple weeks. I’m not sure if it’s a posture thing or if I’m digging into old pains that need to be worked out. The overall strengthening that I’m doing should help, eventually.

After work, I decided to harvest some rocks. I should have taken a before and after picture, but I only thought of that when I was almost done for the evening. I dug out nearly all the rocks from the northwest corner of the mowing area. I think I’ll need the pick adze to get the rest. They’re buried deep or a lot bigger than they seem. I’m still down to dig them up, but it’s going to take more than the hoe. Once I’ve got all the rocks dug out, I’ll work on hoeing the whole area to get rid of the ruts and the holes that I’ve made by taking out the rocks. I don’t think I’ll need to mow that section since I’m pretty much digging it all up.

I went inside to shower and get some dinner sorted out, and I completely forgot that I had a family zoom at 6:30. I remembered that there was an event my sister-in-law was part of and that everyone would be attending, and I thought we’d rescheduled the zoom for Friday for some reason. I showered and was ready to go to the bathroom when I happened to see my dad calling and answered. He had already texted, but I hadn’t checked my phone post-shower yet. So, I was a little late.

I did dishes while we chatted. Doing dishes is so much easier when I’m talking with my family. And then I decided to make a grilled cheese sandwich for dinner. My dad was tired, so we ended before I finished cooking, so my family didn’t get to be jealous of my delicious sandwich with wonderfully melted cheese.

I’m wearing Ambrose’s Blackhawks jersey while I watch Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Finals. He was the one who introduced me to hockey. I didn’t pay much attention to the regular season this year, but it’s nice to watch the Finals and remember the good times we had watching hockey together. Some years, we would go to the Boise State Student Union to watch playoff games, since they were never included in the regular season package we would purchase. Maybe I’ll buy the regular season package again someday.
