I ended up staying up late enough to catch some fireworks. There were several locations that I could see putting up rockets from my porch. And then, for some reason, my body decided that after staying up til after eleven, 7 am was the perfect time to wake up. I think it was because I had a migraine when I woke up. My body was like, okay, enough of this, take the medication. So I did. I took the medication and had some breakfast and water, and waited for the medication to work.
Around 9:30 am, I went back to bed. I didn’t really sleep. I just let myself consider sleeping. For about 90 minutes. I didn’t set a timer, just waited until I felt like getting up again. Wouldn’t that be a nice thing to be able to do whenever I felt tired? And then the migraine was all gone, and I was hungry and ready to start packing everything up for the nieces trip.
I used my checklist and got everything all packed up in various bags. I will need to grab my toiletry kit before leaving the house, but otherwise, I’m pretty well set. I need to make a list of things to do before leaving the house, like putting the water heater on vacation mode and putting the AC at like 80 to keep the house from overheating, but not cooling it much. Maybe 78, I’ll only be gone a week.
I’ll be taking the nieces shopping at REI the day the arrive and a grocery store on our way out of town on Thursday. I will buy them what I deem appropriate backpacking clothing, and they can either keep it or leave it with me and I will use it for myself. A convenient way to expand my backpacking wardrobe. And I’ve got some other REI stuff that I need to buy; it’s all on the list. And there’s a grocery list. I think I’m as well prepared as I can be for this trip.
After dinner, I went outside and did another tank of mowing. I think I have a knapweed infestation, and now that I’m aware of that, I’m going to work on getting rid of them. Not sure how yet, but I’m going to work on it. I think I have one tank’s worth of mowing left to complete the first circuit, and there are a few places I would like to touch up if I still have gas once that’s done. It was in the 90’s when I mowed today, so I’m going to get up early to mow in the morning tomorrow.
