I went to the eye doctor Wednesday afternoon. They rechecked my eyes and took my new glasses. They’re going to have the right lens redone. It will take a couple weeks, so I’m back to my old glasses for a while. Super annoying.
I stopped at Ali’s Mexican restaurant in Fruitland for dinner. I needed to get some dinner before I drove home, and I decided to try this place since I’d driven by it so many times. I ordered a burrito with shredded beef. It was enormous and delicious. I also had a guava Jarritos, which I won’t get again. It just tasted sweet, not really guava-y. I ended up taking nearly half the burrito home for Thursday’s dinner.
I’ve been slow to pack for my backpacking trip. I started gathering gear on the couch Thursday. It’s been hard because I’ve not been getting good sleep. I keep waking up before 5 and I can’t get back to sleep. Unfortunately, this may be a semi-permanent state of things if it’s a symptom of perimenopause.
I’m feeling better this week overall, but it has been hard to push through being so tired. Today especially. I had meetings booked for nearly every hour of the day at work. I had to be on and on topic. I got a lot done, but I’m exhausted.
I made a long list of things I wanted to get done today, and I’ve crossed off all but one. I haven’t packed my backpack. But I did repackage the meals into freezer baggies. Snacks and meals are set. The rest isn’t hard, it will just take some time. I can do it before I leave tomorrow. As long as I’m gone by noon, I’ll be okay.
The materials for my deck were delivered around noon today. They had a little trouble finding my place so I had to go outside and flag them over. It’s all piled up under my trees. I put a tarp over the bags of cement just in case it rains, and the guys from the lumber yard put some stuff on top to weight it down. Pretty much we made sure it wouldn’t rain.
The contractor will be here tomorrow morning around 8. I need to talk to him about not messing with the cords between the solar cell and the automatic lights. Maybe I should pay him a little extra to do a trench for that cord… My deck has been cleared of stuff. It’s ready to be taken down. On one hand, I’m disappointed that I won’t be here to see it being built. On the other hand, I won’t have to worry about how to climb into my house once the deck is demolished.
Tomorrow morning, I want to get up and do my exercises. Then finish packing my pack. Talk to the contractor. Hit the road to Big Creek. That’s the plan.
