I let myself sleep in a little bit this morning, but I kind of ruined it for myself. Some time in the night, I woke up to pee and ended up spilling my water cup all over the bathroom sink area. I wiped it up, but then I heard a dripping, so I had to turn on the light and figure out where my backsplash apparently needs more or better caulk. After that I didn’t feel like I got deep, restful sleep.
I had a bit of a slow start in the morning, but I did what I intended to do. I ate breakfast, and started my load of hiking laundry from yesterday. Then I got outside for some more mowing. I got through one tank of gas in time for family zoom. The laundry was ready for the dryer, but I waited to start it until after I finished doing dishes, because it’s harder to hear my dad when the dryer is going at the same time the sink is running.
We talked a bit about my parents’ visit, and made some plans for tomorrow when they arrive. My dad wants to hike up a mountain, but I don’t think my training trail will suit. It’s too steep, and too long for Claudia to get a good view within her range. I think I’ll take them up towards where I spent Memorial Day weekend for a hike. We can park in a place where we can easily get to that awesome view of the Wallowas, and the snow might be melted enough for a trip up to Sturgill, which I don’t think will be very far past where I ended on that weekend. With parking closer, it might just suit. But that won’t be tomorrow.
After the zoom, I drank a protein drink and then went back out for another round of mowing. I’m pretty close to being done with round two, but I don’t think I’ll finish before they arrive, even if I do a morning mow. Still, close is good. After that, I showered off and did lunch, starting with some frozen fruit. I really like eating frozen fruit, and this was stuff I froze myself, which always seems to taste better to me. Frozen grapes from the store aren’t very good, but grapes I freeze myself are wonderful.
I wanted to get some cleaning done around the house. It’s been too long since I’ve vacuumed. But I was also very sore and tired. I took some Aleve for the soreness and had, not really a nap, but a nice eyes closed zone-out. I didn’t really eat dinner so much as snack this evening. But I did get to my Move U exercises for the day, and I did do some picking up. The vacuum is out to remind me to get to it tomorrow morning. And the floors have been sufficiently cleared to allow me to do that. I’m just accepting that I’m doing what I can.
I’m talking to Ambrose a lot lately. I wish I could hear his voice talking back. I’m glad I have videos of him talking, but I wish I had more. I wish I’d recorded his stories from his Navy days.
When I was doing my second mowing session today, I found an old gear buried in the grass. I have no idea what it might have belonged to, but it’s heavy. I’m thinking of using it for training, as a weight. I had trouble carrying it in my left hand for 29 steps. I’ll have to work my way up, and try both arms.
