I set the alarm for 7:30 this morning since I stayed up a bit late and had decaf coffee in the evening. I wasn’t sure if that was going to mess with my sleep or not. And I’m not sure if it did or if I just had a bit of a busy mind night. That happens sometimes whether I have coffee or not. Even decaf has a little caffeine, but I can usually sleep after drinking some even late.
My dreams were weird, but I don’t remember much more about them than that they were weird. Fun though. I do have fun with my dreams.
I had a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for breakfast with the last of my milk to drink. I ate it while sitting on the porch bundled up in warm clothes against the chill of the morning. That was a nice time. I should do that more often.
I got my writing started around 9 and managed over 1000 words before family zoom at 10. This was the big monthly zoom that more of my Bustamante family is invited to, but only three folks who aren’t normally there showed up. Still, it was good to see them and hear about their lives. My dad played the song I just posted on YouTube, which was a little embarrassing, but in that good way. Maybe he’ll help me add music to it.
After the zoom, I went back to writing and got it over 2000 words before taking a break for lunch. Then back to the writing until it ended up finished at just under 4000 words. I don’t think it’s great, but it had two people meeting and starting to fall for each other so I guess that fulfills the brief, barely. Trying to write a romantic story doesn’t really interest me. My own experiences with dating are sparse, and I don’t think any of my relationships ever had that kind of “meet cute” beginning.
I went down to Weiser to do a little grocery shopping. The local store is closed on Sundays so if I wait to shop until Sunday then I have to drive out at least 30 minutes to get to an open store. Last time I went to Council, so this time I went to Ridley’s in Weiser. They had a case sale going on, so I picked up 24 cans of Campbell’s Chicken Noodle Soup. I’m officially prepared should I get sick over the winter. I also picked up some baking trays to hold my treats for next week’s choir rehearsal, which I’ll be making next Sunday. I have a few more things to pick up for that which I plan to get next Saturday in town.
I had a shake for dinner because my tummy has been feeling a bit hurty today. I’m glad I was able to exchange the chocolate ones that I didn’t order for banana chocolate ones that were what I actually ordered. The chocolate ones are overly sweet for my taste.
I played some more Silksong, which was fun. Then I did my exercises for the day. I started Back & Core level 3 by reviewing that week’s exercises. I might not get around to the full week 1 day 1 workout until Tuesday evening because I have a haircut during lunch on Tuesday, and, of course, choir tomorrow night. I’m planning on a walk tomorrow morning. Aiming for a run on Thursday, maybe Tuesday evening if I get right on things. I’m going to build back up to three runs a week. I thought about doing one today, but it didn’t end up happening.
I’ve thought today about how I can call to mind the memory of Ambrose’s touch. That last week when we had come back from the backpacking trip, the week he had his stroke, I think it was Tuesday, I came out from my office and went to where he sat on the couch and I said, “hug?” and he stood and held me for a moment. And then I went back to work. My body remembers his body. My mind remembers his mind. And his soul still speaks to mine.
