I had a nice sleep in this morning. Got up around 8:30 after a pleasant dream with Ambrose in it. I was telling him about things that had happened in the last week. There was a tarantula on the bed, and I picked it up to move it to another place so we wouldn’t squish it by accident. Maybe that’s a sign that I should get a pet tarantula.

I went on a walk this morning, but skipped my normal Saturday 5K afternoon walk. I’ve been working on hydrating and trying to get the bad poop I could feel bloating me up out. I did go to the transfer station and grocery store with my neighbor around 1, but after that, lots of water and tea.

I don’t feel like I did very much today. But I did do something very good. I cleaned up my kitchen a bit, including doing my sink full of dishes, because I was determined to make Friday Spaghetti. I got the ingredients I needed at the grocery store, and decided to add in the large red bell pepper that I’d bought last week but hadn’t used. It was getting a little wrinkled, but was otherwise just fine.

I decided to make a double batch so I’d have dinners and/or lunches for several days. It’s a food that I really enjoy; something that my mom would make when I was growing up. I have the recipe in a family cookbook, though I don’t quite follow that recipe. I follow the recipe I remember from my youth. Melting the cheese in a few slices at a time at the end… the recipe recommends using shredded cheese, but I remember my mom using American singles, so that’s what I used.

I found myself doing a lot of the dishes that I used for cooking as I went, when there were times I had to wait for things like the onions to turn translucent or the pasta to cook. Or the cheese to melt. I’ve got some dishes that I’ll need to do tomorrow, but not a lot.

The red bell pepper was a delightful addition. It didn’t take away from the nostalgic flavor of the dish; it added a crunch and freshness that was delightful.

I didn’t get my exercises done until almost 9 in the evening. I could have done them before I cooked, but I decided to cook first. Still, I did get them done, after I took a hot bath to try and soothe my sore left leg. It feels almost like it did when I had blood clots back in August, but I doubt I have more blood clots. I haven’t been holding still; I’ve been walking a lot. It’s probably from all the walking, which is why I gave it a bit of a rest today.

Right before 9, my bowels began to respond to the copious amounts of fluids I’d been drinking and I spent way too much time in the bathroom. I’m not sure when I’ll be able to get to bed, because my guts are bubbling and bursting and painful. At least it’s Saturday, so I don’t have to worry about getting up early tomorrow. I mean, I don’t want to sleep in too much because that would make it harder to get to bed on time Sunday night, but I can sleep until 8 without it being an issue, so if I can get to bed by midnight that should be fine.

I think all the retained poop has made me lightheaded today. I’ve felt a bit off kilter for a couple days now; I hope that it passes soon.
