It’s been a long day of travel, but it was worth it. I got to the airport nice and easy in Boise, breezed through security, and managed not to cry even listening to sad music during the flights.
My dad and brother both got me from the airport, and then we made our way to the storage unit with the rental. Got everything loaded up and ready for tomorrow. Then we added Claudia to the group for dinner.
We finally found the tape player that my dad knew he had somewhere in the unit, and my dad and I listened to the rendition of ‘La Bamba’ recorded on it. He tried to teach me the words first, but only the first verse so I got confused when he kept going into new verses. Super cute.
Tomorrow we’ll start the drive to Idaho. I just need to get through one night all by myself in Chicago. I wonder how this trip would be getting done if Ambrose were still alive. Would he have come with me? Would I have left him in Idaho? Maybe I wouldn’t even be going on the drive, just waiting for the delivery when they arrived in Idaho. I had a good little cry tonight.
