The headache continued on Thursday, though I did manage to get through a day of work using the wrap around sunglasses that I thought I’d lost. They were Ambrose’s. Old backpacking gear. They fit over my glasses, so they are really good for migraine days.
I did get off work a little bit early to head up to Council for blood donation. Other than the migraine, I felt fine. My iron was just high enough, and my blood pressure was great. I am now known to the volunteers who staff the drives in Council, so that’s fun.
I usually donate blood with no issues, and I almost made it through clear on this one, but not quite. As they were taking the needle out, I started to feel nauseous. I thought it was because it had been about two hours since my afternoon snack, but they made me stay on the table for a few minutes to be on the safe side. Based on what the Red Cross folks said after I’d drunk a juice box and eaten some pretzels (they brought the snacks to me), I think I went pale. That explains why they offered me a vomit bag anyway. Which I did not need. I managed to get myself home just fine and I rested and ate food for the rest of the evening.
Friday morning, the headache was mostly gone, but enough of it remained that I’m still tender and stiff. Over lunch, I watered my tree, which is looking good. But I didn’t walk to check the mail because that’s exercise and I’m not supposed to do that for 24 hours after the blood donation.
After work, I needed to get to Boise. I wanted to set out right at five, but I needed to eat first. I ended up leaving closer to six. Time well spent. The drive was easy enough. I listened to an audiobook and thought about the drives so to come this week.
I hung out with my Boise friend for the evening. I’m going to bed now because I’m planning on getting up at 5 am to get to the airport for my flight. It’s finally time for the road trip.
I watered my tree during my lunch hour. It looks like it is doing well. There are new leaves coming up, and I think it’s taller.
