I saw my nieces safely off to the airport this morning. We all survived their week in Idaho, even when there was no cell service. I’ve spent the afternoon decompressing and napping. And tonight I’ll be seeing Save Ferris for the first time since I was a teenager. Last time I went with half a dozen friends. Maybe I’ll make some new ones tonight.

Tomorrow, I’ve got plans. Since I’m in town, I’m going to check out the 208 Tattoo Fest. Then I’ll head to Ontario to pick up some photo prints for the county fair. Then to Weiser to see my doctor and talk about potential causes for my anemia – which I really felt on this trip when I couldn’t keep up with my nieces hiking. And, finally, home again, to an empty house and a weekend of recovery, including some extra loud grieving. I was able to cry a bit with them around, but not as much as I need at this particular time.

Overall, the trip was good. I got the girls out into the woods, and showed them Big Creek. I’ll do a more formal write up this weekend with photos. We saw wolverines at Skillern Hot Springs! And I need to set up a photo share for us, because they got pictures I couldn’t while driving. In a perfect world, I wouldn’t have had this trip on a week where I got diagnosed with anemia during a heat dome, but we made the best of things. Ambrose would be proud of me.
