I realized soon after I got into bed last night that I was going to have a repeat of the night before if I didn’t do something. I took a sleep aid and managed to fall asleep, but I woke up feeling not well rested. I’ve picked a heck of a time to decide to quit caffeine, but I do think it’s for the best right now.

Since the main mowing I wanted to get done was done, I went outside and worked on my lilac. I had been ignoring poor Cohan too much this season. There were weeds inside the circle, and too much mulch down by the main stem. Since I had mulch left after I mulched the tree, I had decided to take out the old mulch and replace it. I did that, and pulled weeds. When the ground was relatively clear, I brought out the hose that I’d used Rescue Tape on, and gave it a try. The Rescue tape was not up to the task, so I decided to buy a new hose after work.

I did soak the lilac with the violently leaky hose, which helped with some of the weeds. I did my best to dig the old mulch out from the root base, and even found branches trying to grow through the mulch, which I freed. I found a few bulbs that I brought inside. I’ll plant them in the fall. Then I had to go get ready for work.

Today was the opposite of yesterday, workwise. I had a lot of meetings. And a haircut during my lunch hour. I’m considering growing my hair out longer on top while keeping shaved sides. It would be nice to have some hair to play with, but I also want the fuzzy texture and the look of super short hair. This cut is me starting that experiment. She didn’t take anything off the top, just the sides. At my next cut in 6 weeks, we’ll see if I want to keep it going or not.

After work, I went into town and picked up a hose from the lumber store. And a new sprayer head because I felt like it. Then I stopped at the grocery store and got some antacids and protein smoothies. My tummy has not been wanting to eat food lately, so one smoothie would be dinner. With a side of Saltines.

I had a very nice family zoom this evening. Everyone is excited for my upcoming trip with my nieces. I’m going to be taking time off of posting while they are in town. I might post a bit, but only when I’m in cell service, and that’s not going to happen every day.

After zoom, I watched some TV and waited for it to cool down enough for me to go outside. When it was, I hooked up the new hose and sprayer, dragging them down to the lilac bush. Then I turned on the water and checked out all of the settings on my new sprayer. I used stream to blast some old mulch away from the roots. Then I laid on the mulch. I think it looks very nice.

There was a nice sunset going on while I worked. It’s time for bed now.
