I got my butt out of bed this morning. Not immediately, but better than I have been. I was looking forward to snowshoeing if the snow didn’t melt by lunchtime.

The forecast called for rain, but none materialized. The temps were above freezing, but with so much snow on the ground, the only thing that was really melting was the snow caught in the tree branches. So, I got to go snowshoeing at lunch.

I snowshoed down to the mailbox, and the snowshoed around my yard until I hit a mile total. A really good workout. I wasn’t very bundled up, but I got sweaty as I went on my way, taking off my hat and both hoods.

The snow was really a bit too soft for a good snowshoeing session, but I made it work.

I used the MapMyRun app to track my distance and make sure that I got in a full mile. Looks like the interior loop is a bit less than the half mile I thought it was. Probably a bit more on foot without snow since I can get slower to the fence. I didn’t want to risk tangling my snowshoes in barbed wire, so I gave the fence a rather wide berth.

I composed a birthday song for my sister-in-law as I hiked; for the last several years, I’ve missed her when I’ve called on her birthday, and I’ve kind of evolved a tradition of singing her a song on her voicemail. I figured she’d answer this year since I’d be calling her earlier in the day, and I wanted to make sure I had the song ready to sing live. She liked it a lot.

I got back to work after lunch. Some troubleshooting made me feel more like my old self. I feel more forward motion with work this week. Not back to where I used to be, but not dreading taking on the projects coming up that I need to take on.

I did my last Hips & Glutes Level 1 review with week 4. Tomorrow is Wednesday. I might do 15 minutes of working through the exercises for week 1 of Level 2 rather than the manual workout, because I hope to get to the hot springs, which means no time to do a full workout after work. I’m not going to rely on getting up early and working out. If I get up early, I should start packing for Chicago.

Had a really fun conversation during family zoom. Plus I got to use the presence of my family to get myself to do the dishes, cook, eat dinner, and then do the dinner dishes. I think if I keep up with doing the dishes right after I use them, then it’s not so hard. But as soon as I let a dish sit for more than one meal, I tend to let things slide. It’s so much easier to leave dishes in the sink when there’s more than one!

I’m going to start uploading from my other drive tomorrow. I know there will be backpacking photos. I hope I can find what I think I remember putting there. I’ll be disappointed if it’s not there. That’s why I’ve been avoiding looking at the hard drive. The time has not yet been right.

And maybe it won’t be right tomorrow. But I’ll copy the files over even if I don’t read them all. I wrote a lot about my relationship with Ambrose over the years. Not just this blog, going strong every week since 2015. There was another blog before these two, a work that blended fiction and fantasy, something we collaborated on. Not sure if I still have that backup, or if I’d ever want to share it if I did…
