Yesterday I had more poor sleep. Trouble falling asleep and waking up early. I had a therapy appointment in the morning. That was a relief. It makes sense that I am under stress. And I’ve been pushing emotions down. And I need to go back to low demands on self. My resources are limited, and strained by the physical pain and the lack of sleep.

I got off work a half hour early so I’d have time to get to my eye doctor before they closed at 6. They’re only open until 6 on Tuesdays, so it had to be yesterday even though I felt exhausted and would have preferred not to drive for two hours after a full day of work. And it was a good thing that I went, because I was apparently just at the limit of the 90 day recheck window for eye exams. Which I complained about because I didn’t get the glasses until June, and shouldn’t it be 90 days from when I picked up the glasses?

I saw an optician on a walk-in basis. She set up an appointment with my eye doctor for next week and took some measurements. Since the doctor had already left for the day, she told me that she’d talk to the doctor on Wednesday and text me to let me know if they wanted to recheck my eyes or just make adjustments to my glasses based on the measurements. I got the reply this evening, and I will be going to the eye doctor next week.

I stopped at Albertsons in Payette on the way home to get some drinkable protein. Kefir, some Bolthouse smoothies, fit milk, and Chobani yogurt drinks. I was exhausted when I got home, which is why I didn’t post yesterday.

Last night, I took a sleep aid. I do think that it helped. I’m pretty sure I dreamed, which I haven’t been doing much lately. But I still felt tired. Could have been a hangover from the sleep aid. I took an anti anxiety medication to see how it felt. It helps in that it is calming to my nervous system. But I don’t have very many of those left and the first available appointment for a psychiatric consultation is a month out. I need to figure out another solution.

I’ve got my time off approved for backpacking the week after next, and for the Canada trip in September. I had a lot of meetings today. And had to deal with some urgent issues at work. But I’m getting through at work. If I could just get a good night’s sleep I think I’d feel much better.

I saw the moon last night. Feels like it’s been months since I’ve seen it.

I sat outside this morning for ten minutes. I will try to keep that up on days that I don’t plan on hiking. I plan to hike on Saturday. Not sure exactly what route, but I’m thinking that 9 mile loop off Brownlee might be good. More distance, less elevation gain. Would be a good test.

My dad and I did a ukulele zoom this evening. That was fun. I now have some motivation to practice. And it was good to focus in on making music.

I’ve got to do my exercises before bed. And I’d like to take a shower since I didn’t take one this morning. And then I hope to go to bed early.
