I slept very well last night. I didn’t really want to get up and run, but I promised myself I could take it slow. It was pretty cold this morning, in the low 40’s, so I dressed rather warmly. My legs protested the running, but I got my mile done in more than 16 and less than 17 minutes. Very slow, but steady.

At lunch/exercise release time, I did the next workout in the Shoulders & Arms level 2 program. I’ve been going slowly through week 3, and today I did the day 3 workout of that week. I’m taking the scapula dips very slowly, and I can feel something crunching in my shoulder when I get to the top of the movement. In a good way – I think it’s working through something that has been bugging me for years, and I’m glad of it.

Work was okay. Lots of meetings. I got some testing scenarios set up that I needed to get done, for two different projects. And I walked the newest person through some troubleshooting, which is always a good learning experience. This job is all about that problem solving mindset, and demonstrating it requires real situations.

After work, I was all set to finish, or come very close to finishing, the first round of mowing. But when I got the mower started, the trimmer head wouldn’t spin. I was confused at first, and then frustrated. This has happened before, and I knew what to do.

I got my rachet and got to work taking off the hood of the mower. I could see that the belt had come off its track, and I put it back on and then put the whole thing back together only to find that it still wouldn’t turn. I took it apart again, and took the bolts off the trimmer head piece as well, but as soon as I started pulling that piece off I saw that I’d just missed a part where the belt had come off. I needed to loop it back on the top as well as the bottom. So then I put everything back together and it worked again.

I only did about 30 minutes of mowing because I’d spent so much time fixing it. If I’d spent any longer, then I wouldn’t have had time to shower and eat dinner before bed. I think I’m going to mow in the morning tomorrow to try and finish up round one. I’m not going to give up the hot springs to mow, and I’ve got family zoom on Thursday, and driving to Moscow on Friday, so I’m running out of time to get it done. I don’t want to be loud in the morning, but it’s unlikely that anyone will be able to hear it from inside their houses, so I’ll just do it.

I’m kind of glad that I didn’t do an hour plus of mowing today. I’m feeling sore and tired and a little less work today probably isn’t a bad thing. I’m going to get to bed early and treat myself with a little extra sleep. Mowing in the morning, then hot springs in the evening tomorrow.
