I was planning on running this morning, but when the alarm went off, I couldn’t bring myself to get out of bed and do it. Inertia held me in bed, and I only got out of bed after making a deal with myself that I’d run after work. And instead of running, I’d go outside and spend some time taking apart the little cage/fence that’s next to the raised beds. It wasn’t heavy work, but it got me outside in the beautiful morning air, and I saw a bird perch on top of my house.

I’m going to work on taking it down again tomorrow morning, as I didn’t finish today. I did get all the screws out, and I started detaching the mesh from the poles. The area needs a mowing, but I can’t mow with the cage there. I’m not sure what I’m going to do with the pieces. Probably bring them to the dump.

After that I got showered and ate breakfast and got ready for the work day. I had a fairly busy morning, but I put some things off to the afternoon that I should have gotten done in the morning, because my afternoon got swallowed by ad hoc meetings and work.

During exercise release/lunch time, I spent some time working on the Shoulders & Arms week 3 movements, and filming the scap dips. I’m not able to do them well on the yoga blocks that I have, and I had no idea that my elbows were bending the way they were when I’m trying to keep them straight. One of the cues is to turn the arms out, but when I do that, my elbows bend the wrong way. I also filmed myself doing scap dips on my dip bars, and those looked much better, especially the second set when I had some awareness of how much my elbows were flexing.

Work ended up feeling like meeting after meeting in the afternoon. I had a 1 pm, 2 pm, and then an ad hoc that went from like 3:20 to after 4. And then I had some testing to do as a result of that meeting, and a ticket to update and submit before the end of the day. But I was able to focus and get the things that really needed to be done completed. Now I just need to focus in like that tomorrow morning.

After work, I went for a run, as I’d promised myself I would. My goal right now is to run three times a week, so if I didn’t run today I’d have to run three days in a row, or run on a hiking day. No, thanks. Last week, I ran single miles, but today I decided to go for two. I figured out a route that splits up the big uphill run, and I pushed my pace as much as I could. About 27 minutes for two miles. Not bad, considering the hill climb. I wish I could finish on a downhill, but I’m up here at the top of the hill.

Then I rinsed off and got ready for family zoom. I did the dishes that had been building up, and cooked my dinner while on the zoom. It’s amazing how much easier it is for me to do chores when my family is on the computer talking with me. Too bad I can’t vacuum during zooms; I wouldn’t be able to hear them, but it’s a chore I’ve been neglecting for sure.

After the zoom, I edited my scap dip videos for time and posted them to the Move U forum. I tried to write out how I felt and what I saw, per the guidelines, but I’m not sure if I did it well or right. It’s hard for me to post the videos. I haven’t done it in quite some time, probably over a year. One of the coaches made a suggestion of using chairs for the scap dips, and I’m going to give that a try next time, because the dip bars feel a little close together. Though I think I could make them a bit farther apart as well. That would probably be too far apart. I’ll experiment.

I got some staff spinning done this evening, which felt nice. I’m looking forward to hot springs tomorrow. That’s going to be a real rest day. The only exercise will be some easy Move U movements, and my mail walk. Then Thursday, it will be a morning run and evening mowing, and same for Friday. I’m going to get fit this spring.
