I slept really well at my friend’s house. It was kind of like camping, because I was on a sleeping pad and using a sleeping bag. And the room is pretty cold because of how the heating system works. I got up several times to use the bathroom, but overall the sleep quality felt good.

Since the meeting would have coffee and donuts, I didn’t eat any breakfast. Just got ready to go and headed over to campus. My friend texted soon after I left that my travel pillow was on his porch, but I had put it in the bag with my sleeping bag. When I was waiting at a stoplight for a potential U-turn, I reached back and found that it was still in the bag. I don’t know what was on my friend’s porch, but I’m pretty sure it wasn’t mine.

I parked in one of the campus parking garages and walked over to the Student Union to meet with folks and walk over together. It was really good to see people in person. The meeting had the promised coffee and donuts, and the presentations were interesting. I gave my team their little gifts, and got eggs from one of them from her chickens. Yum!

My only complaint is that the room got progressively colder as the meeting went on. When we finished, we found out that there were issues with the heat in that area of campus. I had ended up with my coat and hat on, and I was still shivering as the heating system blew cold air on us.

I drove home right after the meeting. The drive was uneventful, which was nice. I felt much more awake on that drive than I had on yesterday’s. In fact, I felt energized. It was really good for my mental status to go to campus and see the people I work with. Even though I only had about 30 minutes to eat lunch before the next meeting at 1, I felt good when I got home.

I put a layer of my quick pickles on the bread along with my tuna and mayo and it was delightful. This was a batch made with rice wine vinegar and regular cucumbers. I couldn’t find the ones my neighbor grew at the grocery store, but if I ever see them I’m totally buying them.

There were various fires at work. The biggest one is one that I can’t do anything about, unfortunately. There’s a system issue that is being worked on, but we don’t know what’s causing it or when it will be fixed. It’s kind of put a wrench in a lot of our work, but I did find other things to work on.

At about 20 to 5, I got a phone call from my hot springs friends. They were stuck out on 71 in a car with no gas. As soon as I was off work, I drove out to the rescue. They just needed me to drive one of them to their home so they could get some gas and drive another vehicle out, so it was a really quick errand for me. I’m really happy to have been able to serve my neighbors in that way. I felt useful.

We had a family zoom this evening, and I actually had quite a bit to tell about my week. Sometimes it seems like I don’t do anything while my parents and brother are up to all sorts of things. I showed them all my pictures from the Hells Canyon drive last Sunday, and the deer Monday night. I didn’t even tell them about the shed though. I had too much!

Today has been a good day. I’m still working on that left shoulder. I feel like there’s progress being made, but there’s more work to do. I have to focus on not letting it slide back into the former position to which I’d become habituated. I need to reset the muscle memory to default to a proper muscle usage and position. Work, but worthwhile work.

Tomorrow, I’ll put the flannel sheets on my bed. Even though it’s not actually that cold around here for November. It’s time.
