I was having trouble staying vertical on Friday and ended up going home sick. Saturday and Sunday, I felt like I was just trying to get through the days. I’ve got the diagnostic tests on Wednesday. Prep begins tomorrow.
This morning, I finished one bottle of kefir and wanted to get some more in my cup. So I went to the fridge and decided mixed berry could be safely mixed with strawberry. Unfortunately, the mixed berry’s cap proved to be strung with dark mold. It’s possible the kefir inside was okay to consume, but I decided to play it safe and feed the whole thing down the sink for the septic system to enjoy.
I also reached out to the manufacture, Lifeway. They explained that this can happen if some kefir remains in the cap threads, but that it shouldn’t happen. I’ll be getting a coupon for a replacement. I just hope it will cover my actual cost. It costs more out here than in Boise.
I made jello after work and put some frozen bone broth I bought last year into the fridge to thaw. Those will be my main meals for tomorrow, in addition to the Gatorade laxative mixture I’m going to have to drink in the afternoon. I also have six juice pops in the freezer, juice and Sprite in the fridge. It’s going to be miserable, but I’m prepared.
Smoke haze continues to make the outside air unhealthy to breathe. I’ve got my air purifiers running and I’m staying inside a lot. I’ll wear a mask outside, but what I really want are some goggles over my glasses to keep the haze from irritating my eyes.
I’m starting to think more about who I am without Ambrose. What my goals are for the years to come, should I be so lucky as to keep on living as long as I think I will. For this year, I’m considering skipping an Idaho Centennial Trail trip in favor of a Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness trip. I want to spend more time at Big Creek, and I don’t know if I’m up to new terrain right now. But that does depend on what Wednesday’s tests show. If, like before, they pronounce nothing to be wrong, then I will turn my focus on getting ready for a backpack.
My period is close. I hope it waits until Thursday. Wednesday afternoon at the earliest. Combining colonoscopy prep with a period sounds just awful.
