Today is my official 15 year mark at my job. Hard to believe that I’ve been working at one place, in the same department, for 15 years. Pretty cool. I think Ambrose would be proud of the milestone.
I got up and got ready to hike this morning, but not as quickly as I’d hoped. I didn’t get to the trailhead until after 9:30. But I was a bit faster up the trail than the last time I hiked it, so that was good. I could see boot prints and paw prints, so there’s at least one other person (and their dog) hiking the trail recently.
Unfortunately, my headache had not gone away overnight. I was hoping that the hike would make it go away, at least temporarily, but not this time. The whole time I was hiking, my head was pounding, and the brightness of the sunshine felt like it was stabbing me in my eye sockets.
A lot of the snow had melted, but not all of it. I went out a little farther than last time, but not by much. I didn’t turn back because of snow this time, but because of mud. The sun was melting what snow remained and turning the trail into a muddy mess. I did not want to deal with mud and the headache so I turned back. I left a smiley face in the snow to say hello to the other hiker, though it probably won’t last long enough, either because of melting or new snow. It’s supposed to rain tonight, and I really hope that means snow for the mountains.
I took the migraine medication with a glass of water as soon as I got home. Then I showered and ate some lunch. It took a while to work, so I also covered my windows to keep light from stabbing my eyes. I didn’t do much today. I had quiet time and ran a small load in the dishwasher so all my oatmeal containers would be ready for prep tomorrow.
I’m going to go shopping early, before family zoom. After family zoom, I’m going to make ox tail stew. I’ve got the ox tails in the fridge thawing, and all the ingredients that I don’t have are on my shopping list. Hopefully they’ll all be available in Council because I really don’t want to have to make another trip.
I’m thinking about taking down the rice cooker to make some rice to go with the stew, but I’m not sold on that yet. There’s always Minute Rice. Which I’ll need to buy more of soon. I’ve been using it for home cooking, but it’s really supposed to be for camp cooking.
I hope that the exercises I’m doing with my shoulders aren’t causing headaches. Or the deep tissue work. I have had migraines after massage on those areas before. I know I’m hitting some really tender muscles with the deep tissue work. I suppose I’ll find out in the morning if the headache is back.
